Hari Raya Gathering, SM Sains Sembrong

AlhamduliLlah, on the 9th September 2011, SM Sains Sembrong successfully organised its first Hari Raya gathering. It was a simple yet very meaningful event. Several important personalities from various departments in Kluang were invited to the function but only a few of them came. We also invited the Darus-Syifa' group from Melaka to perform rituals for the safety SM Sains Sembrong and its occupants.

Tasteful food was prepared by the school's very own chef, Cikgu Rafi. Thanks for the wonderful food, Mr Rafi. Boleh masak lagi lain kali. Hehehe.

Samura International Cultural, Sports and Education Festival 2011

My last photography related task for SM Sains Muar - video production showcasing SM Sains Muar profile in conjunction with the first Samura International Cultural, Sports and Education Festival. The video was produced using Apple's iMovie. It was the first time I used iMovie but everything went smoothly as iMovie was easy to use. Next project - video about SM Sains Sembrong using Adobe Premiere. In the meantine, enjoy the video on SM Sains Muar.

Moving Into New Home

On Saturday, 28 August 2011, my wife and I went to SM Sains Sembrong to send some furniture to our new home. I have asked the Senior Assistant whether furniture for the teacher's quarters is provided. His answer - "should be provided but not necessarily supplied". Hmmmm.

At about 6.30 p.m., we went to Kluang city for breaking fast. The line was not long but some customers were undecided what to eat, thus it took a little bit longer to serve them. Well, we finally did break fast even though about 5 minutes late.

After breaking fast, we went into the Parkson supermarket. Initially, we only wanted to do window shopping but finally we ended up buying 2 pillows, a comforter and a few other things for the new home.

Afterwards, we went to window shopping at an electric shop. There, we bought a refrigerator and a washing machine. As it was already 9.30 p.m., the shop can only deliver the goods on the next day. My wife and I decided to spend the night at the new home as it was inconvenient to go back to Muar that night and came back again on the next day.

Since we were spending our first night in the new home, I performed the ritual of entering a new home. After the Maghrib-Isya prayer, I recited the Surah Al-Fatihah, Ayatul-Kursiyy, Surat Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas several times while going round every space and room in the house. May Allah bless the new home and save it from any disturbances either by the seen or the unseen ones.

After the Subuh prayer onn the folowing day, I took the early morning air to stroll around the area nearby. I visited the boys' hostel, the dining hall, the surau and the teachers' flat. I also managed to have a short conversation with the security guard for the hostel area.

Before leaving for Muar, my wife and I took the opportunity to have our pictures taken around the house. Enjoy the pictures below.

I was given the opportunity to shoot their wedding ceremony, starting with the solemnisation on April 30th and the reception on the May 1st. It was a joy to work with both of them. Thanks for giving me the job, for the tasty food and the fun while shooting. Thanks also to Bro Wanz for giving me hand during the reception.

Shooting High ISO

Baru-baru ini, sony telah menaik taraf firmware Alpha A850 dan A900 ke versi 2.0. Dalam penjelasan Sony mengenai versi baru, tidak dinyatakan penambahbaikan berkaitan prestasi A850 dan A900 pada ISO yang tinggi. Walau bagaimanapun, terdapat pengguna yang menyatakan terdapatnya penambah baikan berkaitan. Saya telah berkesempatan mengambil gambar pada ISO3200 menggunakan A900 dan hasilnya adalah memuaskan. Berikut adalah beberapa gambar yang diambil semasa pertandingan yang dianjurkan oleh International Beauty dan Make-up Academy di Melaka baru-baru ini. Semua gambar diambil menggunakan kamera SOny A900 dengan lensa Carl Zeiss 24-70 pada ISO 3200. Gambar telah diproses melalui Lightroom 3.2 tetapi proses terhadap noise tidak ada dilakukan. Satu tip untuk mengurangkan noise ketika mengambil gambar pada ISO yang tinggi adalah dengan menaikkan exposure +1/3 - 1 stop.

Kesimpulannya, jangan takut untuk mengambil gambar pada ISO yang tinggi.....

Mas and Jeff (Muar 01 and 02 Oct 2010)

Another assignment was given for recording memory of Mas and Jeff's wedding ceremony. It began with marriage solemnisation in the evening of 01 Oct. The moments were captured both by me and Bro Wans. On 2nd Oct, I was alone in trying to capture memorable moments of their wedding ceremony. It is always hard to work alone. However, these are a few of the shots during the ceremony. Our Fuure Generation - Muar 10 Oct 2010

Last Sunday, my wife and I went strolling at Tanjung Emas Square, Muar. The area is always alive in the evening especially during the weekend. It is a popular spot for Muarians. I managed to snap a few pictures of children. It is always a joy for me to see children going about their business - running around without any misconception about their surroundings. They are our future and must be brought up to face future challenges.

She is free to ride and roam for now, but will she be inthe future?

My last job for last year was on 24 Dec 2009 - the wedding ceremony of Nabil and Feeza which was held at Rawang. The outdoor session was done at the Metropolitan Lake Garden, Kepong. Special thanks to Wanz for having me to shoot along with him, Che Din and Fadhil.

This must be my most enjoyable wedding shooting. The groom and the bride were very cooperating, in fact photogenic. May Allah SWT bless both of you and may your bond last eternally.

Burning Sun in White

Nature offers myriad opportunities for nature lovers to capture and preserve its beauty through the lens. I love nature but very unfortunately, seldom have the opportunity to venture out and capture nature's beauty. In one of the rare opportunities, I had had an opportunity to ride on the Muar River cruise last year. During the cruise, I managed to capture the sun about to set on the horizon. It was a beauty. I processed the raw file Apple's Apperture (quite an excellent photo processing software), and then crop and add the watermark in Adobe Photoshop.

I hope I will more opportunity to venture into the wilderness and capture great beauty of our natural world.

Home Return 2009

18 Dec 2009, I went back to my hometown in Sabah. It was only a week long holidays but enough to cure my longings for my serene kampung. Unfortunately, I was not able to celebrate Christmas with my parents and relatives.

While in Sabah, I managed to capture a few photos especially at the Gaya Street Tamu or flea market. There are varieties of goods and items - plants, animals, handicraft and foods. Here are some of the pictures for the visitors to this blog to enjoy.

Zoo Adventure

On 13th and 14th December, my wife and I went strolling and picture taking at Johor Bahru zoo and Melaka zoo repectively. The purpose of the adventure was to test my newly acquired Canon EOS 7D. In general, the new camera performs very excellent. The AF is fast, the image is spot on. Howevere, there are times when it has difficulty locking focus. Here are some of the pictures taken during the visit to the two zoos.

Recently, I had the opportunity to shoot another wedding ceremony. It was a long day - arrived at the venue at 11 a.m. and only managed to finish my jod at 6.30 p.m. However, the bride and the groom were very cooperative. At the end of the ceremony, I had an outdoor session with the bride. Thanks to Wanz of rekagrafik.net for giving me the opportunity to shoot the wedding and the newly married couple and their family.

On the 18th October, 2009, I got another chance to shoot wedding, assisting Wanz of rekagrafik.net. It was an all day event, starting with the solemnisation of marriage at around 10 a.m.. The solemnisation was performed by the bride’s father as he was a former qadhi. After, it was makan bersantap followed by photography session with family members and friends. Only after that, we organised proper photography session for the newly wed copule. It was an exciting session. Many thanks to the couple for their understanding and patient. May your marriage lasts forever, here and hereafter.

It's been a while since my last blog. It has been quite busy for me since then, preparing my students for their upcoming nation wide SPM examination. However, amidst the exam anxiety, my schol still manage to organise a few events and one of them was the Majlis Tautan Kasih. It is an annual event to celebrate the Hari Raya 'Idil-Fitri where all citizens of the school - students, teaching and non-teaching staffs gather together to celebrate the special festival. As usual, there were plenty of foods and drinks. It is literally an "eat till you drop" event. I manage to shoot a few pictures of the students and teachers. Hope you enjoy going through the pictures.

Hari Raya 09 Photo Shot

20 September 2009 is the Hari Raya 'Idil Fitri celebration for muslims throughout the world after spending one month battling the lust so that they can become better muslims. Upon returning from visiting families, my wife and I decided to do in-house photo shot. It was quite challenging especially controlling the light and the focus as there was no one to take our picture. However, the outcome was quite good, considering that all the picture were self-taken.

Hari Raya is coming. Happy to celebrate it but sad to leave Ramadhan.
In conjunction with the ending of Ramadhan in a few days time, my school organised 'Majlis Khatam Al-Quran dan Berpuka Puasa' on 16 Sept 2009. Upon returning home, my wife and I decided to shoot our self-potrait.
